I love Sara Bareilles. I've posted blog posts about her before here and here.
So I hear in the other room while minding my own business, some boy singing her new single "King of Anything". I find my dad watching a YouTube video someone had sent a link to him.
I then argued with him for a good five minutes about how this song was an acapella version and all the parts were done separately and then the tracks were laid together to sounds like the original. He didn't believe me! It was hilarious. He kept telling me there had to music. I told him those dudes are the music. It was pretty funny to argue with one of the main people who has been the foundation for my love of music, aaaaand be right. :) hahaha!

Arguing about music. Gotta love it.

Taunting me with emails!
I love music.
I love live music.
There was one point that I was going to a LOT of different concerts within a year span...I went as far as Tennessee for 2nd row seats to a concert.
Well, I outgrew that phase...mostly. I still love live music and I still attend concerts here and there. I have tried really hard to not go to as many shows as I use to back in the day.
Well places like House of Blues, the Joint at the Hard Rock, Live Nation and Ticketmaster have been taunting me with emails left and right of all these different artists I would love to see live. The summer time is coming, it's standard of course. But I am holding strong and I'm not doing it!!
So to feel better about it all, I got nostalgic and found some old concert photos. My best seats (and therefore shots) were back when I was still shooting film...so I don't have those right off hand. Except for this first one. I randomly found it mixed in with some old concert photos.
It was shot on film and scanned on a not so great scanner, so forgive the pixelation! This is back in the day with Maroon 5 tickets were only $15-20!! haha! Miss those days!
This is one of my favorite concert pictures and funny enough has no artist in it. It was also shot on my point & shoot camera. This is when I went to see Jet, which is one of my best concert stories!
I might have to try and find some more old concert photos! This was fun!

It's what I'm aaaBOUT! Music-Rosi Golan
"Moment that I wait, or I hesitate's a moment that I waste"
This is a line from the song "I Don't Wanna Wait" from my new favorite artist...
I am soooo in love with her music. I found her randomly on someone's blog. They had a link to her album on iTunes. I checked it out and instantly fell in love with each 30 second clip of music.
I can be pretty protective of artist/albums that I fall in love with that are not super well known. I don't know why I do that, but I do. It's completely selfish of me. I need to share amazingness when I find it. So, I am trying to give up my selfish musical ways and share this.

Go and get her album "The Drifter & the Gypsy"! (one of my favorite songs on the album, by the way)
Here is a link to her website to listen to full versions of the songs.

Sneek Peak: Girls Rock Vegas
Sorry I have been MIA, I have had a lot going on. I have a ton of stuff to update and no time to make the updates! I'm sorry about that. One thing I am super excited to get to though is Girls Rock Vegas.
I had the amazing opportunity to photograph this non-profit organization that empowers girls through music.
Here is a sneak peek picture... more to come:Click here for a link to their blog!!!

Music (woot!): Eric Hutchinson
So I remember seeing Eric Hutchinson somewhere on iTunes a while back and thinking,"pretty cool song" and then didn't pay attention to it anymore. I was going to download it, I think it was even free, but I just didn't. I wish I would have paid attention sooner. This guy is pretty sweet.
This is the video you probably saw on iTunes.
But I was really sold after watching this video (sorry, I only got a link to the video) for the song "OK, It's Alright With Me"

Soundcheck!
Every time I go to a concert with Lani, I reenact a part of an old Wayne's World SNL skit for her. Usually if I try this joke with anyone else, they don't get it. Most of my friends were not watching SNL around the time of Wayne's World to really get this joke. But since I wanted to be like my sisters so bad, I was. I have found very few people who appreciate my reenactment like Lani does.
Well, I FINALLY found the skit!! I happened on it randomly.
It's at about 4:25. Tom Hanks is the roadie and he is doing soundcheck. It's awesome.
Thank you Hulu.

Ben Folds - University A Capella
This is pretty cool. It comes out next week. Granted, not all of my favorite songs will be on there, and some songs I kinda don't really like...BUT it's still pretty sweet.
And in May Ben Folds is coming to the HOB so I'm pretty excited to see him live again.

You're Hawaiian?!
Yes.
Yes, I am.
And to prove it (which really isn't proof whatsoever, but go with me here), I have been on a Hawaiian music kick lately.
For the past two days I've been listening to:
I love this album. It reminds me of my childhood, when we did stuff as a family or especially when my dad had it blaring on the stereo while he played the guitar. It was also one of the first live albums I listen to. I realized because of that I judge the recording quality and flow of live albums to this one a lot.
You all might know one member of the Makaha Sons of Niihau...
Israel Kamakawiwo`ole (mostly known as Iz or Brudda Izzy)

He is best known for "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World"...I found it for you to listen to. He has such an amazing, calming and peaceful voice.
I hope it makes your day better. It does for me whenever I listen to it, or any Hawaiian music for that matter.

One in the a.m. snack!
Yum...peanut butter.I have ruined my sleeping schedule and have become a night owl again. So while I am working on photos really late at night, every once in a while I get the munchies. Usually I cure it by just going to bed, but not this time. I took one bite and I had to share how much I was loving my late night snack!
It's really the simple things that make me the happiest!
(and can I also mention that I was taking it back and listening to stuff I use to have on cassette tape back in the day but found it on cd/iTunes...I forgot how much I love SWV. hahaha!)

Sara B - Live!!!
I love Sara Bareilles. I think if you go back to a previous post, you will see, I've been a supportive fan! She came in town a while ago, opening for James Blunt. And well, I was not planning on going to that concert. I was sorely disappointed what I thought was my only chance this year to see her live, in town.
Well a few weekends ago, she had her own headlining tour! And an awesome opener to boot! Marc Broussard!
So here are some pictures, from my iPhone (aka=blurry)from the show. I forgot, since it's been ages since I've been to a concert which venues are cool with cameras. Well The Joint at Hard Rock is one that is. Shucks.
Marc B.
Aaand Sara B!!! :) Okay, see these guys at the bottom of this picture, the one on the left...not a cool person at all. Here are a few reason why:
1) Five minutes before Sara comes on, he lead himself, girlfriend and two other people through the crowd of people that had been waiting all night, got there early to be near the front and shove his way to the front and made a couple of people so upset that they left their prime spots because he wouldn't budge. He was in their face and pretty jerky to them. It was really crappy of him to do that.
2) the crowd shifted after the first couple songs and he ended up basically behind me and Lani. So we got to see him white boy dance and white boy "woot" and obstruct our view due to both.
3) I save the worst for last...like I said, he brought his girlfriend, and they brought their PDA. It was R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S! They were all over each other, and the worst part, she was pretty short and he had a goatee. So if his hands weren't all up in her hair, it was attached to his goatee. It was gross! Their worst PDA moment was when she jumped into his arms and had her legs wrapped around his waist (I'm not kidding) and they were making out, spit, hair all over the place, just gross and they only got into this moment was because the song was slow and romantic "sounding" but the song was about breaking up and heartache! HELLLOOOOO! Sara playing a guitar. She also played a ukulele in her encore. She's awesome!
There were a few other crazies in the section of crowd we were standing in. It was nuts.
This last picture is during the most sentimental song for me on her cd, "Gravity". Actually the whole album is attached to a very important part of my life. It's such a good album. If you seriously have not gone out and bought it yet, what are you waiting for!

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
Whaaaaat?! Yeah, I know. I thought that too. Duuude. Seriously. This was a happy little accident I found (while taking a mini break from post work on pictures). It's a little under 45 minutes. It's a three part series that was made during the WGA strike. If you are a fan of Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy the Vapire Slayer and Firefly), then you probably already know about this. I only throw his name in there because, that might carry more clout that this is not a crappy little webisode. It's well done. Really.
I think the biggest reason why it is awesome is because of Neil Patrick Harris. But really the whole thing is great. The music, the lyrics...all of it. It makes you laugh and makes you think, why am I enjoying this obvious over acting and surprisingly great voice of Doogie Howser? And no joke, they can all sing!!
Wanna know more..here is the Wikipedia definition.
And really...even better, here is the actual musical. There might be about two parts of brief "eek" talking for the faint of heart, but really...this mini-web/movie/musical/brilliance is so great. I love how it begins...Please enjoy:
Let me know what you think! I really wanna know.
**EDIT** FYI: You can download the Dr. Horrible show and soundtrack on iTunes.

New MUUUUUSIC!!!
So I've heard of this guy for long time. I've had friends from around the country (mostly from the east and mostly towards the south) sending me mixed cds with this guy on 'em. I actually didn't think much about it. I didn't hate or love him, I just hadn't grasped on, until now. I feel a bit bad for my error of taking too long to catch on. I bring you:
I am telling you what...this cd is awesome. I only downloaded it from iTunes about two weeks ago, and for two weeks I have been jamming out on full blast in my car. My absolute favorite song on the CD is "Until You"...but that is just one of many that is so great. Here is about a 4 minute video about the album:
If you go to the website you can listen songs in full length. I hope you make the right decision...haha! :)

NKOTB
That's right. Here they come. Bringin' it back with the "Right Stuff". And believe me, they are definitely "Hangin' Tough".
Joey was my favorite as a young hopeful girl. And Jordan was my back up.
Fingers crossed, same hopefulness applies...if Joey only got to know me, he'd fall in love with me! And we'd get married and it will be aaammaaaazing!
Check out their website, that also features their new single "Summer Time" which is juuuust in time for summer. Smart. I tell ya. Wicked Smaat. (how do you spell that with a Boston accent?)

Duran Duran
I saw Duran Duran Saturday night. Lani invited me when her friend said she didn't want the tickets. You know me, I love concerts.
So here are a few pictures from my iPhone....This is right before they came out. Everyone was SUPER excited. I was kinda just standing there watching 30 somethings and older going nuts. I don't know too many Duran Duran songs, less than 5. But it was good times.
10 minutes into the concert I look at Lani, she looks at me and we give each other this look of "do you smell thaaat?" it was not a good smell. It stunk! And there is no smoking in at The Joint anymore so we were confused. I just went back to listening/watching and then a minute later Lani screams in my ear, "the guy next to me is lighting up a joint (at the Joint...get it?!?) that's why it stinks so bad!" I was already getting a headache from him just pulling out the thing so I went and told a security guy and he came over few minutes later and the guy didn't take it out again. Thankfully. I was at a concert a few years ago in California at an amphitheater and I was a getting a major contact high/headache from someone smoking joints all night. It was not fun. But no one could figure out who it was. They ruined the concert for the bunch of us around them. So I wasn't going to let that happen again so I was a big fat fink and told on him. Sorry dude. But that was rude. (I did not mean to rhythm that just kinda happened.)They asked everyone to pull out their cell phones, I thought it looked cool, so I tried to get a picture. Don't know how well it turned out because it did look a whole lot cooler in person.
Near the end of the show they had everyone waving their arms back and forth. I started cracking up. It looked hilarious to me for some reason. I haven't seen that happen at a concert since the late 80's/early 90's. I flashed back to New Kids on the Block. This is the crowd "waving their hands like they just don't care". It was awesome.

JM Updates...
You know me, you know I enjoy his music.
Here are some cool things he posted on his blog. I can't wait for the new album.
Here is how he is going to try and make a tour interactive and more about giving his fans what they want and about their experiences...pretty neat.
Rough cut of a new song on the new album...
(p.s. sorry I have been extremely busy. I'm sorry I haven't posted lately. But I will soon.)

Ingrid Michaelson
Sorry I forgot to post some pictures of Ingrid Michaelson! My bad!
Here ya go!
She was cool. It reminded me of the old John Mayer days when he would talk and babble and just say things that a fairly newer live performer would say and do. BUT I liked it too because after it, I wanted to be her friend. She seemed chill and just someone fun to kick it with.
Until later!
Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Oh! Teenage Girls!
So I went to Pet-a-Palooza this weekend. First a few things I've learned after attending this event:
- Don't go if you don't like animals.
- It will be kinda smelly.
- Look down here and there when you walk...as in look out for pet poo poo.
- One word: sunscreen.
- Bring chairs even though it says they won't allow them.
- No need to come early. We didn't, and I'm glad we didn't.
So we saw Gavin Degraw and Ingrid Michaelson. Here are just two pictures of Gavin....

I have to tell you a funny story.
I was able to meet Gavin back when a lot of people didn't know who he was. He called me "baby" during our very brief meeting. Aaand it was so choice! I am normally not okay with being called that but was like, "oh yeah, you can call me baby!!" hahaha! I melted right then and there! I was ridiculously drooling! I admit it.
So as he was leaving the stage (after he performed this Saturday) he went to the edge and shook hands and said hello to screaming fans...

I stopped taking pictures after a few more shots after this one and then started to put away my camera and this girl runs over to her friends that were standing right behind us screaming "I touched him! I touched him!" and my sister says to me,"oh teenage girls!" and I said quietly to myself,"yeah...he just barely touched her among a bunch of other people. He actually called me baby! PSH!"
I'm such a nerd.
A few of Ingrid to follow.
